Turkey has achieved significant success in international patent applications, rising to 10th place in the world ranking with 10,004 domestic patent applications. This important development was shared with the public by the Turkish Minister of Science, Industry, and Technology, Kacır, through a message on his social media account. Minister Kacır emphasized that women inventors played an important role in Turkey's success in the field of intellectual property.
The World Intellectual Property Indicators 2025 Report, published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), clearly outlines Turkey's position in the field of intellectual property. Notably, the percentage of women inventors applying under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) is 26.1%, making Turkey a world leader in this regard. This situation is considered a reflection of Turkey's efforts to improve its intellectual property law and its goal of increasing innovation within society.
Minister Kacır pointed out that with the success Turkey has achieved in domestic patent applications, it is also rising in international patent applications. Our country ranks among the top three fastest rising countries in the world in terms of domestic patent growth rate. This is a clear indication of the high potential of Turkey in intellectual property.
The protection and development of intellectual property are extremely important for increasing global competitiveness. Turkey's initiatives in this area not only encourage domestic production and innovation but also provide an opportunity for greater visibility in the international arena. These strategic moves are of critical importance for promoting and supporting local inventors across various sectors.
