Akdeniz Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. (AEDAŞ) has taken a significant step in line with the energy efficiency and sustainability goals in the region by launching a comprehensive LED conversion program. During this conversion process, 23,351 fixtures will be converted to LED technology, resulting in a significant reduction in energy consumption.
AEDAŞ General Manager İlkay Baydar announced that they aim to achieve an energy savings of approximately 3.8 million kWh annually with the planned conversion. Baydar emphasized that they will achieve an annual energy savings of 3 million 850 thousand 667 kWh through the conversion. Such projects play an important role in demonstrating an environmentally friendly approach while also reducing costs.
The operation center of AEDAŞ in Antalya has been inspected through field visits conducted by the Electricity Distribution Services Association (Elder). During these visits, investments aimed at strengthening the company's existing energy infrastructure and digital projects have been reviewed. Baydar stated that there has been a significant increase in energy demand since 2013 and reported that the total investments made to meet this demand have reached around 50 billion TL according to the June 2025 CPI figures.
Furthermore, Baydar highlighted that an investment worth 9 billion TL will be made in Antalya, Isparta, and Burdur alone within the year 2025, adding that this investment amounts to 25.6 million TL daily. The LED conversion works are planned to be completed by the end of 2025.
İlkay Baydar emphasized that ensuring energy efficiency has now become a necessity and stated that all processes at AEDAŞ have been redesigned to enhance energy efficiency. While 8 thousand fixtures will be converted to LED, 15 thousand new LED fixtures will also be installed. The conversion activities have simultaneously started across the entire service area, including the central districts of Antalya, Manavgat, Alanya, Serik, Isparta Center, and Burdur Center, and are planned to continue until the end of 2025.
AEDAŞ's future goals include ensuring a total of 50 thousand LED fixtures are used. With this conversion, it is aimed to strengthen the electrical infrastructure and provide citizens with faster services. In this context, it is also expected that the response time to lightning-related malfunctions will be shortened.
