Emirates and GE Aerospace have signed a deal for an additional 130 GE9X engines to power their growing fleet. This agreement includes engines for 65 new Boeing 777-9 aircraft, bringing the airline's total GE9X engine orders to 540. Additionally, the agreement encompasses spare engines and a long-term service contract.

This announcement strengthens the 40-year partnership between Emirates and GE. The Dubai-based airline made its first flight with GE Aerospace engines in 1985. Today, it serves more than 140 destinations across six continents and operates the world's largest fleets of Airbus A380 and Boeing 777.

Emirates Airline and Group Chief Executive Officer HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum stated, "Emirates is already the world's largest Boeing 777 operator, and today we are expanding our commitment to the program with an additional order worth $38 billion for 65 Boeing 777-9 and 130 GE9X engines. This is a long-term commitment and a testament to our partnership with Boeing and GE."

Russell Stokes, President of GE Aerospace Commercial Engines and Services, also said, "We are proud to deepen our long-standing partnership with Emirates. As already the world's largest customer of the GE90 and GP7200 engines, this additional GE9X order reflects Emirates' confidence in our technology and team. We are ready to support Emirates in enhancing its efficiency and resilience using industry-leading solutions and services in every way."

The GE9X engine is described as the world's most powerful commercial aircraft engine and the most fuel-efficient in its class. It is used exclusively in the Boeing 777X family, specifically the 777-9 and 777-8F aircraft, offering a 10% improvement in specific fuel consumption compared to its predecessor, the GE90-115B, and featuring emissions that are a generation ahead technologically. To date, it is the most tested engine in the history of GE Aerospace and has undergone over 1,700 dust ingestion cycles to demonstrate its durability, particularly in challenging operational environments like the Middle East. Like all GE Aerospace commercial engines, the GE9X engine is certified to operate with approved Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blends.

GE Aerospace has maintained a strong partnership with the United Arab Emirates for over 40 years. To support the country's future aviation goals, GE Aerospace has made significant investments, including over 240 employees, offices in the Abu Dhabi and Dubai Airport Free Zones, an On Wing Support Center in Dubai South, and engineering, testing, and maintenance-repair facilities. Additionally, today, GE Aerospace announced a $50 million investment in a new On Wing Support facility.
