WeRide Launches Fully Autonomous Robotaxi Services

WeRide has started commercial operations of fully autonomous Robotaxi services in Abu Dhabi on October 31, 2025, after receiving its license, becoming the first international company to obtain a city-level commercial license outside the United States. This license highlights the confidence in WeRide's autonomous driving technology.

WeRide's Robotaxis will operate in Abu Dhabi through Uber and TXAI platforms. Efforts are rapidly advancing with this synergy, and details will be shared with the public shortly.

In July of last year, WeRide received the first national license for all autonomous vehicles in the United Arab Emirates. Along with this license, authorization for autonomous tests and operations on public roads across the country was provided. State-level approvals played a critical role in this process.

Set standards and a collaborative approach for autonomous driving technology were crucial for WeRide to ensure compliance with local regulations for its operations. Thus, the approval for fully autonomous commercial operations was achieved.

Since 2021, WeRide has been providing Robotaxi services in Abu Dhabi in collaboration with TXAI, launching the largest commercial service in this field in December 2024 in partnership with Uber. By July 2025, it expanded its service network to cover half of the central areas of Abu Dhabi.

According to the latest data, as of October 2025, WeRide's Robotaxis have traveled approximately one million kilometers in Abu Dhabi. The new license eliminates the need for a safety officer in the vehicle, indicating that WeRide's Robotaxi services will achieve financial balance.

Since the second quarter of 2025, WeRide has been conducting fully autonomous Robotaxi tests in Abu Dhabi in collaboration with ITC to validate reliability. These efforts emphasize that WeRide's fleet goal in the Middle East aims to reach 1,000 Robotaxis by 2026.
