Automotive production increased by 5% in the first 10 months of 2023.

5% Increase in the Automotive Industry

Automotive Industry Association (OSD) data shows that Turkey's automotive exports reached 864,809 units in the first 10 months of the year, marking a 5% increase compared to the same period last year.

In the first 10 months of the year, total automotive production rose to 1,163,425 vehicles, while car production was 717,321. The total automotive production also includes tractor production, and with these figures, the total production reached 1,187,015.

Significant Increases in Commercial Vehicles

During this period, the production within the commercial vehicle group showed an increase of 17%, while this increase was recorded as 20% in the light commercial vehicle group. However, a 2% decline was observed in heavy commercial vehicle production.

The capacity utilization rate in the automotive industry was 66%, while this rate was 67% for light vehicles and remained at 56% for the truck group.

Export Level of 33.5 Billion Dollars

According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly, the automotive industry exports reached 34 billion dollars in the first 10 months of the year, maintaining its leadership in sectoral exports. During this period, total automotive exports were reported as 33.5 billion dollars.

Additionally, while car exports showed a 9% decrease, commercial vehicle exports recorded a 29% increase. Tractor exports, on the other hand, decreased by 21%, falling to 9,340 units.

Market Growth and Domestic Vehicle Share

In the first 10 months of the year, the total market increased by 10% compared to the same period last year, reaching 1,078,527. In this period, the car market grew by 11%, totaling 833,382.

The share of domestic vehicles in car sales was reported to be 30%, and in the light commercial vehicle market, it was at 21%.
