Big financing good news from the World Bank for Istanbul.

Turkey continues to strengthen its preparedness against disasters by effectively utilizing international financing sources. According to data obtained from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the İstanbul Urban Resilience Project, designed to enhance the disaster and climate resilience of İstanbul, was approved by the World Bank Board of Executive Directors on August 8.

This project aims to make İstanbul a more resilient city in the face of developing climate change and natural disasters. The financing support of 554.4 million euros will be utilized in areas such as strengthening the city's infrastructure, developing risk management systems, and raising public awareness.

The primary objective of the project is to enhance İstanbul's preparedness for potential disasters and optimize the management of risks in the city. Various activities will be carried out in this scope. In particular, the improvement of urban infrastructure, emergency planning, and community-based solution proposals will make İstanbul's future safer.

This project emphasizes the importance of local and international collaborations, and various training and awareness programs will be organized to increase İstanbul's disaster management capacity. Thanks to the project, all stakeholders in the city will be better prepared against risks, and societal resilience will increase.

Climate change and natural disasters are among the serious issues threatening the sustainable development of cities worldwide.
