Andrew Ng, a prominent figure in the field of artificial intelligence, made statements to Bloomberg HT at Davos, highlighting critical points in the evaluation of artificial intelligence. Ng emphasized that AI should be viewed as a tool, similar to computer and cloud technologies, rather than as an independent entity from humans.
Ng approached the expectations that artificial intelligence will reach human intelligence with caution, noting that the main agenda for the coming years will be 'the use of AI in businesses.' Especially software engineers have gained significant momentum with the opportunities provided by AI, enabling even individuals without programming skills to become productive thanks to this technology.
Ng expressed that his greatest concern regarding artificial intelligence is the inability of the education system to keep up with this pace. He pointed out that universities are still preparing their graduates based on the expectations of the job market from five years ago, while there are numerous open positions in many countries, but new graduates lack the necessary skills. The education system urgently needs to integrate AI and update its curricula.
Ng stated at the event in Davos that two years ago, AI was merely a 'hype,' but now the business world is focused on the question of 'how can we use this technology?' He predicted that this momentum will further increase by 2026. Ng believes that the most important skill for the future will be 'being able to articulate exactly what one wants to the computer,' and this skill will become a standard tool for all individuals.
