Walmart and The Salvation Army Reunite to Support Those in Need

Alexandria, Virginia – According to a statement dated November 7, 2025, as families across the country prepare for the holidays, Walmart and The Salvation Army are coming together again to meet the increasing needs in communities. Walmart is reaffirming its commitment to providing hope to those struggling with hunger and hardship by matching donations from contributing customers.

From now until December 24, Walmart will match donations made through the Holiday Meal Donation process up to $500,000. Additionally, from December 2 to December 24, Walmart will match round-up donations made online and through the app up to $1 million. These matching initiatives will maximize the impact of each donation, allowing more families to receive food, shelter, and basic support.

“More families nationwide are seeking help from The Salvation Army to gather around the dinner table and find shelter over their heads,” says Merle Heatwole, National Commander of The Salvation Army. “Thanks to Walmart and its customers, we will be able to provide meals, shelter assistance, and critical resources to those struggling to get by this holiday season.”

As many families continue to grapple with the cost of living and cuts to food aid programs, local nonprofit organizations are facing record levels of demand for help. Through its long-standing partnership with Walmart, The Salvation Army will provide millions of meals, toys, and essential services to those in need—ensuring that hope shines brightly this holiday season.

Whether they make a donation at checkout, round up their totals online, or contribute to providing meals for those in need, it’s easier than ever for our customers to help.”
