Alexandria, Virginia – According to a statement dated November 7, 2025, as families prepare for the holidays nationwide, Walmart and The Salvation Army are partnering once again to meet the increasing needs in communities. Walmart is reinforcing its commitment to providing hope to those struggling with hunger and hardship by matching donations from contributing customers.
From now until December 24, Walmart will match donations made through the Holiday Meal Donation process up to $500,000. Additionally, between December 2 and December 24, it will match round-up donations made online and via the app up to $1 million. These matching initiatives will amplify the impact of each donation, allowing more families to receive food, shelter, and essential support.
“More families across the country are seeking assistance from The Salvation Army to put food on the table and find shelter,” says Merle Heatwole, National Commander of The Salvation Army. “Thanks to Walmart and its customers, we will be able to provide food, shelter assistance, and critical resources to those struggling to survive this holiday season.”
As many families continue to face challenges with rising living costs and cuts to food assistance programs, local nonprofits are experiencing record levels of demand for help. Through its long-standing partnership with Walmart, The Salvation Army will provide millions with meals, toys, and essential services — ensuring a bright light of hope this holiday season.
