Turkey has taken a significant step in the field of agriculture and forestry by laying the groundwork for a fishery export agreement with China. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı met with the President of the General Administration of Customs of China, Sun Meijun, during a meeting held in Shanghai. This historic meeting marks the beginning of a new era in Turkey's fishery exports.
During the discussions, necessary inspection and health requirements were established for wild and aqua-cultured fishery products to be exported from Turkey to China. The protocols agreed upon between the two countries are seen as an important step not only in ensuring food safety and quality standards but also in enhancing trade volume.
Having a significant place in global agricultural production, Turkey aims to increase its competitiveness in fishery exports as well. The signing of these protocols will contribute to Turkey’s goals of sustainable growth in the fishery sector and increase opportunities to access new markets. Particularly, the investments made in fishery cultivation, as well as the importance of fishing activities carried out in inland waters and seas, are substantial.
Yumaklı, in his statement during the meeting, provided information on the potential of the Chinese market for Turkey's fishery exports, indicating that this process will be beneficial for both countries. He also emphasized that Turkey's fishery sector has the capacity to meet international standards with its high-quality and healthy products.
The signed protocols will pave the way for Turkey's fishery exports, helping it to stand out in the global market. This process will enhance the awareness of Turkish fishery products worldwide, taking into account the growth potential in the Chinese market. This step will strengthen trade relations between the two countries and lay the groundwork for increased mutual collaborations.
