President Donald Trump has requested the Department of Justice to immediately initiate an investigation into meatpacking companies that are raising beef prices. This development is seen as an important step in terms of consumer rights and market competition.
In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump stated, "I have asked the Department of Justice to immediately launch an investigation into meatpacking companies that are unlawfully colluding, price-fixing, and manipulating prices to increase the cost of beef."
The President emphasized that American farmers should always be protected, noting that they are being blamed for the actions of mostly foreign-owned meatpacking companies that are "artificially inflating prices and jeopardizing the country's food supply security."
Trump called for swift action to protect consumers, combat illegal monopolies, and prevent these companies from making profits that harm the American people.
In another post, Trump pointed out that while cattle prices have significantly decreased, packaged beef prices are rising, stating, "You know there is something 'suspicious' about this. We will get to the bottom of this very quickly. If any crime has been committed, those responsible will pay a heavy price."
