Chairman of the Capital Markets Board (CMB) İbrahim Ömer Gönül made significant statements at the 14th Investor Relations Summit organized by the Turkish Investor Relations Association (TÜYİD).
Gönül emphasized that investor relations are no longer limited to the accuracy of financial reports, but now also focus on issues such as companies' sustainability performance, data processing capacity, and future plans. Stating that “Today, our capital markets have a broader, more accessible, and dynamic structure,” Gönül noted that AI-supported analyses and digital communication channels are accelerating this transformation.
Chairman Gönül indicated that the success of companies in initial public offerings and the increase in trading volume on Borsa İstanbul reflect a significant achievement boosted by the interest of domestic investors. “Our goal is to increase trust and predictability in the markets,” he said.
Addressing projects aimed at increasing financial literacy, Gönül stated, “So far, we have provided face-to-face training to over 200 thousand individuals. We aim to raise awareness by creating special content for young people and women.” He shared that seminars for university students, entrepreneurs, and cooperatives will continue to be organized across the country.
Gönül pointed out that increasing financial literacy enables investors to make informed decisions and enhances market depth, stating, “Increased awareness within institutions strengthens companies' strategic decisions.” In this context, he drew attention to the importance of guidance from institutional investors.
