A Major Chicken Investment is Coming to Kahramanmaraş

One of the leading companies in the chicken sector, Lezita Abalıoğlu, has moved to establish an integrated chicken production facility in Kahramanmaraş with an investment of approximately 130 million euros. This investment will be carried out to enhance the economic vitality of the region and strengthen the agricultural sector.

The New Facility Aims for a Daily Processing Capacity of 300,000 Chickens

The company has reached a daily processing capacity of 450,000 chickens at its Izmir Kemalpaşa facilities. However, they reported that they chose Kahramanmaraş in line with their growth targets. The new facility, feed factory, and hatchery investments will be realized in Türkoğlu, while the slaughterhouse investment will be established in the Dulkadiroğlu district.

Planned Production and Breeder Supports

In the first phase, the investments aim to achieve a processing capacity of 100,000 chickens, and in the second phase, 200,000 chickens are targeted. In the initial phase, it is planned to purchase chickens from 250 breeders, while support for 600,000 square meters of chicken coop investment will be provided to contract breeders.

Sustainability with Local Producers

The feed factory will use corn and wheat sourced from local producers. As part of the training programs, educational support will be provided to contract breeder candidates in Dulkadiroğlu. Additionally, preparations are underway for high-tech equipped coops.

Lezita's Employment Emphasis

Mesut Ergül, General Manager of Lezita Abalıoğlu, emphasized their goal of creating new job opportunities in the region after the earthquake, stating that the proximity to export markets and ports was a decisive factor in the investment choice. He mentioned that they anticipate increasing their total production capacity by 50% by the end of next year.

Grant Support Opportunities for Investments

Onur Karaca, Live Activities Production Director at Lezita, highlighted the necessity of 3,000 square meters coops with a capacity of 45-50 thousand chicks for a sustainable structure. It has been reported that the remaining part of the investment is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and TKDK.
