In a post on social media platform X, Iranian President Pezeşkiyan evaluated the negotiations between his country and the U.S. that took place in Oman. Pezeşkiyan stated, "The Iran-U.S. talks, conducted with the efforts of friendly governments in the region, are a step forward for peace and stability."
Pezeşkiyan emphasized that Tehran's fundamental strategy has always been dialogue for peacefully resolving disputes. He also remarked, "Our approach to nuclear issues is based on the clear rights outlined in the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). The Iranian nation has always responded with respect and honor, but does not accept the language of power."
Negotiations between Iran and the U.S., which were interrupted following the attacks on Iran by Israel and the U.S. in June 2025, resumed in Oman. These talks took place against the backdrop of rising tensions between Tehran and Washington, as well as the increasing military buildup by the U.S. against Tehran.
The negotiation delegation was headed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the U.S. side was represented by Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump's Special Representative for the Middle East.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei provided information about the talks with the U.S., stating, "The negotiations in Muscat between Iran and the U.S. concluded with an agreement between the parties to continue discussions."
