


According to the statistics announced by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ) for January, air traffic in Turkey showed a remarkable increase. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that there were 68,371 flights in domestic routes and 62,749 in international routes, resulting in a total of 179,078 aircraft traffic. Compared to the same month in 2025, there was an increase of 1.8%, including overflights.
In January, total passenger traffic was recorded at 17,785,633. Of this, 8,200,145 were domestic passengers and 9,572,922 were international passengers. Compared to the same month last year, there was an increase of 9.6% in the number of passengers. A total of 401,866 tons of cargo traffic occurred across airports.
Istanbul Airport served a total of 6,910,808 passengers with 9,265 domestic and 35,825 international flights in January. This represented a 7% increase. At Sabiha Gökçen Airport, a total of 4,189,974 passengers were served with 1,752,332 domestic and 2,437,642 international passengers. These figures pushed the total number of passengers using Istanbul airports to over 11.1 million in January.
Uraloğlu noted that airports in tourism centers also received significant interest in January, stating that İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport served 978,647 passengers, while Antalya Airport served 1,074,277 passengers.
