DUBAI, UAE, November 17, 2025 – Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Emirates announced that the world's largest international airline has placed a third order for the 777X aircraft to support future expansion in response to growing travel demand. The new order for 65 Boeing 777-9 passenger aircraft was announced during a signing ceremony at the Dubai Airshow.
Emirates continues to develop its global network using the Boeing 777 as its flagship carrier and is one of the launch customers for the new 777X family. It previously placed orders for a total of 205 aircraft. With the new purchase, Emirates' 777X order will reach 270 aircraft, covering both the 777-9 and 777-8 models, solidifying its position as the largest 777X customer.
Emirates Airline and Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum stated, "Emirates, the world's largest operator of the Boeing 777, is expanding our commitment to the program with an additional order of 65 Boeing 777-9 aircraft today." He added, "This is a long-term commitment to our partnership with Boeing and to American aviation."
Al Maktoum noted, "Every aircraft we have ordered is carefully integrated into Emirates' growth plans in line with Dubai's growth strategy."
The 777-9, built on the successful 777 series, will be the world's largest twin-engine jet and will set new standards for efficiency and passenger experience. The 777-9 will reduce fuel consumption and emissions by 20% compared to previous aircraft. Passengers will enjoy a wider and more spacious cabin, improved humidity levels, a smoother ride, and more natural light.
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said, "We are deeply honored that Emirates has once again chosen the Boeing 777X. The airline’s selection of this aircraft to refresh its world-class fleet and expand its global network is a testament to our strong partnership." She added, "Boeing takes pride in the success Emirates has achieved in becoming one of the world's leading carriers over the past 40 years."
Major carriers worldwide have selected the 777X and its robust design to manage high-capacity, long-haul routes. Boeing's 2025 Commercial Market Outlook provides projections for sustained demand for wide-body aircraft in the Middle East, with the region expected to require nearly 3,000 new wide-body aircraft over the next 20 years.
