Cathie Wood's Alibaba Investment: $25 Million Move

Cathie Wood led Ark Invest made significant portfolio moves earlier this week. The focus was particularly on Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. (NASDAQ:BABA), Baidu Inc. (NASDAQ:BIDU), and Reddit Inc. (NYSE:RDDT). These trades were executed amidst market dynamics and regulatory challenges affecting Chinese firms.

Ark Invest sold shares of Reddit through various ETFs. The Ark Fintech Innovation ETF (BATS:ARKF) disposed of 13,723 shares, while the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (BATS:ARKW) sold 26,277 shares. Reddit's share price closed at $208.21 on Tuesday, marking a 1.97% increase. The sale of these shares by Ark Invest reached a value of approximately $8.3 million.

This move continues Ark Invest's trend of adjusting their holdings in social media platforms. On the same day, significant purchases were made in Alibaba shares. ARKF, ARKW, and the ARK Innovation ETF (BATS:ARKK) collectively bought 157,731 shares. The value of this purchase was about $25.36 million, while Alibaba shares closed at $160.80, experiencing a decline of 3.07%.

Ark Invest also acquired shares of Baidu through ARKK and the ARK Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF (BATS:ARKQ), obtaining 12,006 and 2,525 shares, respectively. Jim Cramer expressed a positive outlook on Baidu, considering it a strong option among Chinese stocks. Baidu shares closed at $131.95, marking a 0.28% decrease, and the total value of this acquisition reached approximately $1.9 million.

Additionally, there were sales of 789 shares of Tesla Inc., 13,496 shares of Exact Sciences Corp in ARKG, and 95,168 shares in ARKK; CRISPR Therapeutics AG purchased 5,177 shares in ARKG and 34,073 shares in ARKK. Iridium Communications Inc. saw the sale of 143,560 shares in ARKK and 38,241 shares in ARKQ.
