The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, made important statements during the Energy Week events held in Moscow, the capital of Russia. Bayraktar emphasized that Turkey's energy needs will continue to increase and that, in this context, nuclear energy has strategic importance, during the panel titled "Nuclear Energy: A Force that Protects the Climate, Unites Nations, and Guides Humanity."

Minister Bayraktar noted that Turkey's annual electricity consumption is expected to triple over the next 30 years. He stated that the current annual electricity consumption of 350 terawatt-hours is expected to exceed 1,000 terawatt-hours by 2055, highlighting the importance of strategies to meet future energy needs.

Expressing Turkey's goal of achieving a carbon-neutral economy by 2053, Minister Bayraktar pointed out the need to diversify energy supply to meet the increasing energy demand. He stated that they would reach this goal by establishing a balance between nuclear energy, renewable energy, and domestic fossil resources.

Minister Bayraktar noted that nuclear energy is an area that promotes international cooperation and plays a significant role in combating climate change. He announced that Turkey aims to achieve 20 gigawatts of nuclear installed power by 2050. In this context, he emphasized that domestic and renewable energy sources will also have significant importance.

In conclusion, Turkey's energy policy will not only support economic growth but will also be shaped by a sustainability approach that aligns with international environmental standards. This transformation will bring significant gains both environmentally and economically.
