The U.S. has decided to lift the commercial flight restrictions implemented during the government shutdown. This decision will directly affect 40 major airports in the country.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Administrator Bryan Bedford announced in a joint statement that the emergency order affecting flights nationwide will be lifted today.
Duffy thanked the security team for their dedication to ensuring the safety of the airspace following the lengthy government shutdown, and indicated that air traffic controllers would be returning to their duties.
Bedford emphasized that the commercial flight restrictions at 40 major airports in the U.S. would come to an end, praising his team's commitment to public safety. Previously, due to the government shutdown on November 5th, there had been a 10 percent reduction in flight capacity at these 40 airports to reduce pressure on air traffic controllers.
Major airports such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Atlanta were among the most affected by these restrictions. The lifting of the restrictions is expected to restore normal traffic at these airports.
The end of restrictions on commercial flights is seen as a significant development for both passengers and airlines. A revival of the air transportation sector is anticipated.
