As part of Turkey's renewable energy goals, the application process for the YEKA (Renewable Energy Resource Areas) model for Solar Energy Power Plants (GES) has been completed. According to a statement from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, 77 separate applications were made by 38 companies for a total of 8 YEKA GES in 7 cities.
Under YEKA GES-2025, a total of 650 megawatts of connection capacity in the provinces of Bolu, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Kahramanmaraş, Mardin, Van, and Manisa will be allocated to investors as a result of the upcoming competitions. It is expected that these competitions will take place next week following detailed document reviews.
In YEKA GES-2025, the starting ceiling price is set at 5.50 euro cents per kilowatt-hour, while the floor price is determined to be 3.25 euro cents. If the floor price is reached in all competitions, the starting price for the contribution per megawatt will be 10 thousand euros.
For the Demirköprü Floating GES, which is Turkey's first floating solar power plant, 11 applications have been submitted. Thanks to the amendments made to the Coastal Law last year, it has become possible to establish renewable energy plants in seas, dam lakes, artificial lakes, and natural lakes. Under YEKA GES-2025, a capacity of 35 megawatts will be allocated in the Demirköprü HEPP reservoir area located in Manisa.
In addition, applications for YEKA RES-2025 competitions to be held for wind power plants will be accepted on December 2 between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, stated that Turkey's installed capacity for solar and wind has surpassed 38,000 megawatts and that the goal is to increase this number to 120,000 megawatts by 2035. Bayraktar also mentioned, "By implementing the new YEKA model, we expect to see highly competitive auctions in solar and wind."
