Foreign Investors' Stock Sales

According to data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT), foreign investors made a net sale of 109.7 million dollars in stocks in the week ending October 10. This situation indicates that foreign investors continue to sell in line with negative expectations in the local markets.

Increase Compared to the Previous Week

Foreign investors sold 84.1 million dollars in stocks and 358.5 million dollars in bonds in the previous week. These figures indicate that international investors are responding to the fluctuations in the Turkish stock market by selling.

Contrasting Trend in the Bond Market

On the other hand, it has been observed that foreign investors have made purchases in the bond market during the same period. Foreign residents made a net purchase of 307 million dollars in bonds. This situation reveals an increased interest from foreigners in the bond market.

Change in Stock and Bond Holdings

The change in the stock holdings of foreigners in Turkish equities is also noteworthy. The stock of equities decreased from 33.26 billion dollars to 32.53 billion dollars, while the bond stock increased from 15.39 billion dollars to 15.44 billion dollars. This situation indicates that investors' risk perception may be subject to change.

These developments show that investors are adopting a more cautious approach in the Turkish markets. However, the increase in bond purchases may also have led to a greater inclination toward alternative investment vehicles.
