Hope for Everyone through Walmart and Red Cross Collaboration

As families across America prepare to face the holiday season, Walmart and Red Cross are once again collaborating to meet the rising needs of communities. This holiday season, Walmart is doubling its commitment to fighting hunger and providing hope to those in need by matching customer donations through two special initiatives.

From now until December 24, Walmart will match donations made through the Holiday Meal Donation program up to $500,000. Additionally, between December 2 and December 24, it will match Round-Up donations made online and through the app up to $1 million. These matching initiatives will amplify every dollar donated, ensuring more families receive food, shelter, and essential assistance.

Red Cross National Commander Merle Heatwole stated, "Many more families across the country are turning to the Red Cross to fill their tables and provide a roof over their heads," thanking Walmart and its customers. "With their help, we will be able to provide food, housing assistance, and critical resources this holiday season."

As many families continue to struggle with rising living costs and declining food assistance programs, local charities are experiencing record levels of demand. Through its long-term partnership with Walmart, the Red Cross will provide food, toys, and essential services to millions in need—ensuring a glimmer of hope shines this holiday season.

Opportunities to Participate

In-store Donations:

  • Red Kettle Campaign | November 15 – December 24: Starting November 15, Red Cross's iconic Red Kettles are returning to Walmart and Sam's Club stores. Shoppers can contribute cash or make digital donations to assist those in need.
  • Angel Tree | November 15 – December 15: At participating Walmart stores, customers can pick an Angel Tree tag and purchase gifts for local children in need. Gifts will be collected and distributed by local Red Cross units.

Online Donations:

  • Online Round-Up | December 2 – December 24: Walmart shoppers can round their purchases up to the nearest dollar, supporting the Red Cross Red Kettle Campaign with every cent. During this period, Walmart will match donations up to $1 million.
  • Online Angel Tree | October 14 – December 15: Customers can help families by purchasing toys, coats, and other essentials through the Red Cross Angel Tree registry. Items purchased online will be sent directly to local Red Cross units.
  • Holiday Meal Donation | October 21 – December 24: Customers shopping at Walmart.com can add $5, $15, or $25 donations to provide meals for families in need. Walmart will match these donations up to $500,000 during this time.

Walmart Senior Vice President Julie Gehrki said, "We know our customers and members place great importance on their communities during the holiday season. By working with the Red Cross again, we are offering more opportunities for them to give back. Whether they choose to donate at the checkout or round up online, we invite everyone to help support families in need."

Walmart and Red Cross have partnered for over 40 years to offer hope to millions across the country. Initiatives like the Angel Tree and Red Kettle Campaign ensure that children can open gifts on New Year’s morning and families can share warm meals together. All of this is made possible through the generosity of Walmart customers and employees.
