Cooperation Agreement Between STM and Barzan Holding on UAVs

One of Turkey's leading defense industry companies, STM, has signed an important cooperation agreement with Barzan Holding. This historic agreement took place during the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2026) and aims to further strengthen the strategic relations between Turkey and Qatar.

The ceremony was attended by Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Saud bin Abdurrahman bin Hasan bin Ali Al Sani and President of the Presidency of Defense Industries Haluk Görgün. The memorandum of understanding signed between STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz and Barzan Holding CEO Mohammed Bin Bader Al Sadah will strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in the defense industry.

Importance of Local Production and Joint Development Models

Under the signed agreement, STM will ensure the local production and integration of its successful tactical UAV systems in Qatar. The cooperation will be assessed within a broad framework that includes unmanned aerial systems as well as unmanned maritime platforms.

STM will provide engineering, system development, and technology integration support to Barzan Holding. This model aims to strengthen Qatar's defense technology infrastructure to international standards.

STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz emphasized that this memorandum is a strategic step that reinforces cooperation in the defense industry between the two countries. Güleryüz also stated:

“The strong relations between Turkey and Qatar are being strengthened day by day with concrete projects in the defense industry. This agreement with Barzan Holding aims to ensure the local production of our tactical UAV systems and unmanned maritime system capabilities, which are preferred by more than 15 countries across 4 different continents, and to develop advanced capabilities in Qatar. As STM, we value sharing our engineering strength and technology expertise with friendly countries to create joint production and sustainable defense ecosystems. We believe this cooperation will provide long-term contributions to the defense industries of both countries.”
