Ripple Takes Steps for Multi-Chain Expansion with RLUSD

Ripple is expanding its Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin to include Ethereum layer-2 blockchains, specifically Optimism and Base platform from Coinbase. This expansion enables cross-chain movement by utilizing the native token transfer standard of the Wormhole platform.

The expansion process will begin with a testing phase. This phase is awaiting the necessary regulatory approval from the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) for a public launch. The expansion is planned to take place in 2024.
