January 2026: Increase in Registered Unemployed

According to the December 2025 Statistical Bulletin published by the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR), the number of registered unemployed increased by 100 thousand people in January 2026.

Data shows that the total number of registered job seekers increased by 4.29% on an annual basis. 50.4% of registered job seekers are men, while 49.6% are women. Particularly, the 15-24 age group of youth represents 20% of the registered job seekers.

Employment Placement Data

In January, a total of 118,733 people were placed in jobs through İŞKUR. Of those placed, 64.8% were men and 35.2% were women. It was determined that the registered unemployed increased by 184,000 people over a three-month period.

Open Job Listings and Sectoral Distribution

In January, the number of open job listings received by İŞKUR from employers was recorded as 170,617. 99.7% of these open positions came from the private sector. The highest number of open jobs was in the manufacturing industry, with 62,183 positions.

The most open positions reported by employers occurred in the following occupations: Security Officer, Private Security Officer (Unarmed), Service Staff (Waiter).
