TİM Grains, Pulses, Oilseeds, and Products Sector Council Chairman Ahmet Tiryakioğlu stated that Russia aims to go beyond being a raw material exporter in the agricultural sector and to achieve a stronger position in the global food chain.
Tiryakioğlu emphasized that Russia is encouraging the establishment of food processing facilities through significant investments abroad. This situation can further enhance Turkey's ability to convert imported inputs like wheat and crude sunflower oil into value-added products.
Tiryakioğlu also expressed that the deepening of Russia’s trade relations with China and India would not directly affect Turkey's food exports. While assessing the effects of the EU-India Free Trade Agreement, it is noted that some sensitive products like rice from India are excluded from its scope, hindering these products' entry into the EU market.
In this context, new collaborations with India can create significant opportunities, particularly in the markets of Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
