Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) announced that it will provide over 60,000 advanced Nvidia (NVDA) artificial intelligence chips under export licenses approved by the U.S. Department of Commerce for the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This approval was granted in September and allows for the transfer of Nvidia's high-performance GB300 Grace Blackwell processors under security and compliance conditions. The chips will be used to expand cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in UAE data centers.

This development comes shortly after President Donald Trump announced on a television program that exports of the most advanced chips would be blocked, especially to China. However, the UAE agreement is subject to an earlier approval that has additional scrutiny conditions.

The export agreement is linked to the UAE's commitment to direct $1.4 trillion worth of investments towards U.S.-based artificial intelligence and energy projects. This amount is significantly higher than the Gulf nation's annual gross domestic product (GDP) of around $540 billion.

Microsoft stated that the deliveries are part of a $15.2 billion regional technology investment and that it will support access to artificial intelligence through OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source developers, and its own cloud platforms that run over 21,000 Nvidia GPUs in the UAE.
