ABU DHABI - Microsoft plans to invest more than $15 billion in the United Arab Emirates by 2029. The company intends to use a significant portion of this investment for the expansion of Artificial Intelligence data centers, and it is reported that it has received export licenses from the Trump administration to send advanced chips.

Microsoft Vice President and President Brad Smith stated in an interview with Reuters, “The largest share of this investment, as in the past, will go to the expansion of AI data centers in the UAE. This is a critical investment to meet the demand for AI usage here,” he said.

Smith emphasized that they obtained export licenses from the U.S. government for these operations last year and secured new ones for this year as well. Speaking at the side events of the ADIPEC energy conference, Smith noted that the UAE is spending billions of dollars toward its goal of becoming a global AI hub and is trying to gain access to the world’s most advanced chips by establishing strong relations with Washington.
