Microsoft (MSFT) has formed a new partnership with G42 to increase data center capacity in the United Arab Emirates. This agreement is a significant part of the company's total 15 billion dollars investment in the Gulf region.
Under the plan announced on Wednesday, the Abu Dhabi-based artificial intelligence group G42 will implement a 200 megawatt expansion. These new facilities are expected to be operational by the end of 2026. Microsoft stated that the project will enhance the country's artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure and increase access to Azure services in the region.
Last week, Microsoft confirmed that its total investment in the United Arab Emirates would reach 7.3 billion dollars by the end of 2025 and that it plans to invest an additional 7.9 billion dollars by 2029. Additionally, the U.S. government approved the export of Nvidia (NVDA) chips to support the project. This move supports the United Arab Emirates' goal of becoming a global artificial intelligence hub.
