DECTA predicts that euro-backed stablecoins will gain advantages when MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation) fully comes into force in 2026. This regulation will create a unified framework that brings together reserves, auditing, and operations.
DECTA highlights that growth in this sector will occur depending on the scaling of banking infrastructure by MiCA-authorized issuers, the use of institutional regulatory frameworks, and the growth of consumer-oriented payment channels.
The payment company expects that unregulated and synthetic euro tokens will be replaced by regulated stablecoins. However, it was noted that this adoption will vary among European Union member states.
