The explosion in the courier sector has thrown motorcycle sales into turbulence.

The Covid-19 pandemic has led to significant changes in many sectors, including the courier sector. Hayrettin Ertemel, the President of the Istanbul Motor Vehicle Dealers Association, emphasized in his statements that this rise has created a substantial demand explosion, especially in motorcycle and light commercial vehicle sales.

Ertemel stated that motorcycle sales across Turkey reached nearly 1 million units last year and expressed expectations for similar sales figures this year. The increase in motorcycle users is supported not only by the pandemic's impact but also by factors such as the convenience it provides in urban transportation and its environmentally friendly nature.

Additionally, light commercial vehicle sales have also been impressive. Ertemel noted that around 258-260 thousand light commercial vehicles were sold last year, and this year he expects this number to approach 240 thousand. The trend of companies in the food and beverage sector leaning towards light commercial vehicles to make fast deliveries is one of the primary factors contributing to this demand increase.

This ongoing trend throughout the year is affecting not only the motorcycle and light commercial vehicle markets but also financial stability. The increase in vehicle sales can boost turnover within the sector while helping to prevent unregistered sales. The government's implemented incentives and low interest rates make vehicle purchases more attractive for individuals.
