In İğneada, a town in the Demirköy district of Kırklareli, 3 tons of horse mackerel caught below the legal size limit were confiscated. This incident serves as an important warning for local fishermen.
During the inspections carried out in the İğneada waters, Coast Guard Command teams identified 307 crates of horse mackerel caught on a fishing boat below the legal size limit of 13 centimeters. The captain of the boat and three crew members were subjected to administrative fines.
The confiscated fish were handed over by the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Forestry to the Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation for distribution to those in need. This represented a beautiful example of community solidarity.
