Inflation in Istanbul for January 2026: 4.56% Monthly Increase

İstanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO) has shared the consumer price index data for January 2026 with the public. The İTO Istanbul Consumer Price Index, reflecting changes in retail prices in Istanbul, increased by 4.56% in January. The annual inflation rate was recorded at 36.15%.

Health Expenditures in the Spotlight

As of January 2026, the highest price increase occurred in the health expenditures category, with an increase of 11.94% observed. Other expenditure groups were ranked as follows:

• Transportation: 9.96%
• Various Goods and Services: 8.52%
• Restaurants and Hotels: 6.22%
• Household Goods: 4.40%
• Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages: 4.27%
• Communication: 4.26%
• Entertainment and Culture: 3.23%
• Housing: 2.56%
• Education: 2.53%
• Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco: 0.21%
• Clothing and Footwear: -2.32% (decrease)
