Recently, fluctuations in the prices of bread and simit in Turkey are being reshaped by the intervention of the Ministry of Trade. The prices of these staple food items produced by bakeries affiliated with tradesmen and craftsmen chambers will now be subject to stricter control. New Era in Price Determination Process

The Ministry of Trade has been authorized as the approving authority in determining the prices of bread and simit produced by bakeries that are members of the trade chamber. This situation, which replaces various administrative bodies that previously served as criteria in the price tariff determination process, increases the ministry's control over the issue. With the new regulation, prices will be approved directly by the Ministry of Trade, rather than being determined by a committee consisting of the Provincial Director of Trade, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, and representatives from the chambers union.

Attention to Cooperation with Tradesmen and Craftsmen Chambers!

Another noteworthy aspect of this new regulation is the changes made on January 7. On this date, a revision was made to the regulation concerning the price tariffs of goods and services produced by tradesmen and craftsmen. Now, it has become essential for the union to obtain positive opinions from the Türkiye Bakers Federation and the ministry before approving price tariffs.
