Statement from the President of Hak-İş

During the Expanded Presidents' Council Meeting of Hizmet-İş held in Manavgat, Antalya, the President of Hak-İş, Mahmut Arslan, emphasized the struggle they have given for the determination of the minimum wage over the past 50 years and made a critical call.

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission Needs to Be Restructured

Arslan stated that the current structure of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission does not allow for a healthy determination of the minimum wage, saying, "Our demands were not taken seriously, but finally, three confederations have come together to agree that the commission needs to be restructured."

Action Must Be Taken for the New Structure

Mahmut Arslan expressed that Hak-İş will soon share the work it has been doing regarding the Minimum Wage Determination Commission with the public, adding, "The government, Mr. Minister, and relevant public institutions must implement this important change before December."

Other Developments in Working Life

Arslan noted that the trade union movement has been losing strength and called for the removal of barriers to organization. He also mentioned that they have organized a total of 77 thousand domestic workers into the union and aim to reach 100 thousand by January 2026.

Proposals on the Pension System

Mahmut Arslan pointed out that the coefficient issue in the pension system has reduced pension payments and proposed a two-item regulation. "We demand that the necessary changes be made to raise pension payments to the level of the minimum wage," he said.
