Nvidia stands out as the most valuable company in the artificial intelligence sector. However, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the new Blackwell chip will not be made available to "other people." This situation has brought discussions about the potential export of the chip back into the spotlight.
Trump expressed in his statements that the Blackwell chip is ten years ahead of other chips, saying, "We are not giving this new Blackwell to other people."
In particular, speculation about sales to Chinese firms has sparked debates in Washington. Republican Congressman John Moolenaar emphasized that such a situation would be akin to "giving nuclear weapon-grade uranium to Iran."
It was previously expected that Trump would discuss the status of the Blackwell chip with China's President Xi Jinping. However, Trump noted that this issue did not come up during summit discussions.
Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang stated last week that they have not submitted an export license application for the Chinese market. Huang expressed that the Beijing government currently does not want Nvidia to be present there. Nvidia announced that it will supply over 260,000 Blackwell artificial intelligence chips in South Korea, and these chips will be provided to major companies like Samsung Electronics.
