OURO Project and Sustainable Agriculture

Griffith Foods and PepsiCo have launched an innovative project called OURO to accelerate the transformation in agriculture within the framework of COP30 events. This project aims to support corn and soybean farmers in Brazil's Cerrado region, promoting renewable farming practices.

The OURO Project began by targeting 7,000 acres (approximately 2,800 hectares) in its first year, assisting farmers in adopting renewable practices. Griffith Foods aims to reach nearly 4,000 farmers worldwide through this project, enhancing agricultural equity and rural living standards.

The company has achieved a 19% reduction in operational emissions as part of its sustainability commitment and actively conducts more than 15 renewable farming projects globally. Griffith Foods aims to reach net-zero in its value chain by 2040 and to expand renewable farming practices over 1 million acres (approximately 404,000 hectares) by 2030.

As part of the project, Griffith Foods and PepsiCo developed an innovative financial support model for farmers. This model offers economic incentives to encourage farmers to adopt renewable techniques and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This approach reduces the financial risks that farmers face in transitioning to new practices, improving soil health and increasing climate resilience.

Griffith Foods Regional Sustainability Director Nicholas Costa stated, "This partnership is part of our journey to feed the world and transform the food system. In line with our 2030 Goals, we are going beyond the idea of 'do no harm' to embrace a renewable mindset that regenerates land and empowers communities."

In addition to OURO, Griffith Foods is witnessing the transformation of a total of 30,000 acres (approximately 12,000 hectares) in projects running in Canada, Colombia, the United Kingdom, and Thailand. These efforts aim to revitalize ecosystems and enhance rural living standards.

In the future, Griffith Foods will continue its efforts to transform food systems based on sustainability and innovation and promote environmental regeneration through partnerships that support community well-being.
