As Turkey prepares to enter the winter period, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources is taking comprehensive steps to ensure natural gas supply security. Minister Bayraktar announced that the natural gas storage facilities have reached a 100% capacity, stating that they have taken the necessary precautions to meet the country's energy needs.
Bayraktar expressed that the ministry has developed a broad strategy by making LNG (liquefied natural gas) agreements in the short, medium, and long term, emphasizing that this has diversified Turkey's natural gas supply sources. Thus, preparations have been made for the expected energy demand during the winter season, not only through external supplies but also by increasing local storage capacity.
It is noted that important underground natural gas storage facilities like Tuz Gölü and Silivri play a critical role in meeting the increased energy demand during the winter months. These facilities significantly contribute to Turkey's total natural gas storage capacity and play an indispensable role in maintaining the supply-demand balance.
As a result of the investments made, the goal is to further increase storage capacity. This is of great importance for ensuring energy security, especially during the periods of high consumption in the winter months. Minister Bayraktar pointed out that these steps have been taken within the framework of efforts to increase Turkey's energy independence.
During this period, when winter preparations are at their highest level, it is stated that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of natural gas to consumers. This proactive approach in the energy sector is crucial for sustainably meeting Turkey's energy needs.
