A new study conducted in France reveals the striking dimensions of energy poverty. According to the research published on Tuesday, 36% of households are struggling to cover their energy expenses. At the same time, 35% had to endure spending the last winter in cold and uncomfortable homes.

This situation highlights the extent to which the economic strength of the population has weakened and the growing concern over energy costs. 85% of those surveyed stated that they have had to allocate a significant portion of their budgets each month to rising energy bills. This rate represents the highest level recorded since 2007, once again underscoring the seriousness of the issue.

In light of these data, it is noteworthy that households have turned to energy-saving measures to maintain their living standards. Many participants have decided to modify their habits in an effort to reduce energy costs. For instance, they are operating their devices during off-peak hours to save electricity, automating water heaters to reduce unnecessary expenses, and rearranging heating schedules.

It has also been observed that the austerity policies in the country have further exacerbated this situation. Economic pressures are causing households to struggle with meeting their energy needs and leading to a decline in living standards. It is clear that France's energy policy needs to be reassessed in order to ensure both economic sustainability and the fulfillment of citizens' basic needs.
