


The President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed significant budget details at his party's Parliamentary Group Meeting. He stated that the budget for 2026 would result in a primary surplus.
Erdoğan expressed that the budget expenditures for 2026 would be 18 trillion 929 billion TL, while the revenues would be 16 trillion 216 billion TL. He announced that they foresee a 29 billion TL primary surplus.
Evaluating the impact of the earthquake on the budget, Erdoğan conveyed that they are trying to pull back the budget deficit to the average levels of previous governments. The social aid budget is planned to be 917 billion TL in 2026, which corresponds to %4.8 of the budget. In addition, it has been reported that 100 billion TL will be allocated for social housing projects.
Erdoğan stated that they will continue to provide government support for natural gas and electricity prices, expressing that 373 billion TL has been allocated in the 2026 budget.
Emphasizing that the resources allocated for family, children, and women's programs will be increased by %30, %34, and %35 respectively, Erdoğan noted that the education budget will be 2 trillion 896 billion TL, which will account for %15.3 of the total budget.
Finally, Erdoğan remarked that since 2002, resources have been directed both to interest and to public services, stating that in the 2026 budget, interest expenditures have significantly decreased compared to the past; he mentioned that 14.5% of total budget expenditures are for interest expenses.
