France-based Alstom has begun the production of 10 new trains for Transport for London (TfL), significantly contributing to London's transport network with the Elizabeth Line. These new trains are being constructed at the Litchurch Lane Works facility in Derby, England.
The total cost of this project is estimated at £220.5 million, and it aims not only to produce the trains but also to provide a significant boost to the local economy. The Class 345 Aventra electric train sets produced as part of the project will be supported by approximately 40 British companies, aiding in strengthening commercial partnerships and increasing local employment.
The new trains are designed to meet the transport needs of London’s growing population. Serving on the Elizabeth Line, these modern trains will provide passengers with a more comfortable and faster travel experience. The production process will involve more than 1,000 employees, contributing to an increase in job opportunities in the sector.
Additionally, this project will support the modernization of London’s transport infrastructure and sustainability goals. The new trains will incorporate eco-friendly technologies, allowing for lower emission levels, and bringing cities closer to their objectives for environmentally friendly transport solutions.
The production process is carried out under high engineering standards and quality control mechanisms. At this point, Alstom, as a global provider of top-level transport solutions, reflects its innovative approaches in the transport sector in this project. With the timely commissioning of the new trains, London’s transport system will become more effective and efficient.
