TPAO is preparing to undertake an important natural gas exploration project in the Çöpköy Neighborhood of Uzunköprü district in Edirne, through the Trakya Regional Directorate. In this context, a well named Çöpköy-4 will be drilled in the site with the license number AR/TPO/K/G17-C1.
The project will be carried out on a total area of 19,400 square meters, and natural gas exploration activities will take place by drilling down approximately 1,250 meters into the ground. TPAO emphasizes the use of environmentally friendly methods in the project with its perfectionist approach. In this regard, it has been stated that the fracking method will not be used in the planned activities.
As a result of the drilling activities, a daily natural gas production of 100-150 thousand cubic meters is targeted. This amount represents a potential that is expected to significantly contribute to the energy supply in the region. This exploration project to be conducted in Uzunköprü will also make an important contribution to Turkey's efforts to increase energy independence.
The natural gas exploration activities in the region could play an important role not only in reducing energy costs but also in increasing local employment. The eco-sensitive approach to be adopted in the projects may positively influence the local population's perception of the initiative.
Experts in the sector indicate that TPAO's move has the potential to change regional energy dynamics. In addition, the economic and social benefits provided by natural gas exploration will positively impact not only Edirne but also surrounding provinces.
