Cambridge, England – October 29, 2025, CMR Surgical (‘CMR’), a pioneer in global surgical robotics, is evaluating the integration of NVIDIA IGX Thor with its Versius Surgical Robot System.
IGX Thor is the latest and most powerful platform designed for physical artificial intelligence and robotics. This platform offers up to 5,581 FP4 TFLOPS of AI computing power, while enhancing energy efficiency with 400 GBe connectivity capacity, delivering better performance.
CMR's goal is to combine its data with artificial intelligence to provide real-time insights and recommendations that improve patient outcomes. It aims to enhance the quality of all surgeries by utilizing the data obtained from each Versius procedure. In close collaboration with NVIDIA, it will evaluate the AI capabilities of IGX Thor, thereby augmenting surgeons' capabilities and making minimal invasive surgery more accessible.
Versius collects a wide array of telematics, video, and patient outcome data through its digital ecosystem and uses this data to provide meaningful insights to surgeons and hospitals. Versius delivers these insights through the Versius Connect application, Versius Teams, and Customer panels, aiming to improve surgical care.
CMR Surgical Chief Technology Officer Chris Fryer stated, “Today's announcement aligns with our strategy to harness the immense potential of artificial intelligence and represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide real-time insights. The goal of AI is not to displace surgeons but to empower them. We are eager to explore how the AI capabilities of NVIDIA IGX Thor can revolutionize the Versius ecosystem.”
Versius is a unique and adaptable surgical robot designed to fit into almost any operating room configuration. It has successfully performed approximately 40,000 surgical cases to date and is utilized in leading hospitals worldwide across a range of specialties, including urology, general surgery, gynecology, and thoracic surgery. Thanks to its portability across departments, Versius has been made suitable for all types of care settings, from high-volume cases with lower acuity to the most complex oncological surgeries.
