This construction project is expected to provide employment for more than 2,500 workers under the management of the partnership between HITT Contracting and BE&K Building Group, and it is anticipated to reach a total of 6.2 million construction hours.
So far, 90 customers have placed over 2,250 orders for the 787 Dreamliner family, making it the best-selling wide-body passenger aircraft of all time. Following over 1,200 deliveries, the number of orders pending for the 787 continues to be around 1,000 aircraft; over 300 additional orders were added this year. In light of all this, it is projected that the commercial aviation sector will need more than 7,800 new wide-body aircraft over the next twenty years.
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, stated, "The demand for the 787 Dreamliner family is very strong and this investment is critical for ensuring Boeing is ready to meet our customers' needs."
The contributions of Boeing to the region in South Carolina have been praised by many leaders, including South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and Senators Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott. It has been emphasized that this investment will create 1,000 new jobs and support economic growth in the region.
