In global markets, the geopolitical tension in the Middle East continues to keep investor risk appetite low despite ceasefire agreements, along with ongoing budget disputes in the U.S. Domestically, a weak outlook in Borsa Istanbul persists. The BIST 100 index closed the day on Wednesday, October 9, down by %0.27. In this case, the index started trading at 10,720.36 points compared to the previous close.
The index made a positive start to the day, reaching a level of 10,737.92 points. In the first half, the banking and holding indices recorded increases of %0.21 and %0.19, respectively. However, the total trading volume was recorded at 46.2 billion lira. The sector that gained the most value in the first half was insurance with %1.86, while the sector that experienced the most decline was financial leasing factoring with %2.34.
In the second half of the day, the index reached its highest point during the day at 10,784.57 points. However, as the day drew to a close, the BIST 100 turned to a downward trend, losing %0.06 and finishing the day at 10,720.36 points. The lowest level tested during the day was recorded at 10,654.20 points, while analysts defined the support levels at 10,600 and 10,500 points, and the resistance levels at 10,800 and 10,900 points.
While the ongoing budget disputes in the U.S. continue to have a negative impact on the markets, decreasing geopolitical concerns in the Middle East are also being considered. Investors are closely monitoring the development of these fluctuations in the markets and sector dynamics.
