According to a post on the social media platform of the X company based in the USA, OMB Director Russell Vought announced the situation with the statement, "Staff reductions have begun."
Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump reported that he planned a meeting with Vought to determine which federal agencies would experience layoffs.
The 2025 fiscal year in the U.S. ended at midnight on September 30, Tuesday. The federal government had shut down due to Congress's failure to approve a temporary budget bill ahead of the new fiscal year. This situation resulted in many federal employees being placed on leave.
Approaching the tenth day of the shutdown caused by the federal government's funding shortfall, the Republican and Democratic parties have still not reached an agreement on the temporary budget bill. In the ongoing budget crisis in Washington, both sides' proposals failed to gain sufficient votes in the seventh vote held in the Senate.
