The Federal Statistical Office of Germany (Destatis) has released data regarding the Agricultural Producer Price Index (PPI) for November 2025. According to the data, the Agricultural PPI in Germany decreased by 5.7 percent in November compared to the same month of the previous year, attracting attention among economic indicators.
In November 2025, a monthly decrease of 2.6 percent was observed in the PPI index.
While the annual decline in the Agricultural PPI was 1.7 percent in October 2025, in November, the prices of plant products decreased by 11.5 percent on an annual basis.
The prices of animals and animal products also experienced a decrease of 2.3 percent compared to the previous year; this marks the first annual decline since May 2024. The primary reason for the decline in plant product prices was a significant reduction of 45.6 percent in potato prices.
Additionally, a 17.7 percent decrease was recorded in the annual prices of fruits, with apple prices declining by 21 percent. Meanwhile, milk prices fell by 10.2 percent, while egg prices saw an increase of 11 percent.
The prices of beef cattle rose by 3.3 percent, while poultry prices, along with price increases in species other than chicken, such as ducks and turkeys, increased by 7.3 percent.
On the other hand, the decline in energy prices and the slowing price growth of food are among the significant factors suppressing inflation in Germany. The annual inflation rate in the country was 2.3 percent in October and November, before falling to 1.8 percent in December, reaching the lowest level seen since September 2024.
