


German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived in Turkey for important discussions with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Following his arrival, Merz emphasized in a social media post that he wants to strengthen cooperation between the two countries even further.
Friedrich Merz was welcomed at Ankara Esenboğa Airport by Germany's Ambassador to Turkey, Sibylle Katharina Sorg. In his post, Merz expressed that the relationship with Turkey has a multifaceted and dynamic nature, stating that he is in Turkey to take steps to enhance this cooperation.
The German Chancellor and President Erdoğan are scheduled to meet on Thursday at the Presidential Palace. It is expected that important topics such as Turkish-German relations, Turkey's European Union (EU) membership process, and the development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries will be discussed during the meeting.
Merz stated in a post on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), "We have special and different dynamics in our relationship with Turkey. I want to further expand our close cooperation in the fields of foreign and security policy, migration, energy, and trade." These statements are being regarded as a promising development for international relations for both parties.
