Adeia, a technology licensing company, has filed two lawsuits against Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) in a Texas federal court. The lawsuits involve allegations that AMD infringed on Adeia’s ten patents related to desktop, laptop, and server processors.
The complaints state that various processor models from AMD violate Adeia’s rights to patented inventions developed in semiconductor production. It is noted that among AMD's processors are products that offer support for 3D V-Cache technology and include artificial intelligence chips.
Adeia CEO Paul Davis stated that AMD's use of technology has significantly contributed to the company’s market leadership and emphasized that Adeia is open to a “fair and reasonable arrangement” that reflects its intellectual property.
Menlo Park, California-based AMD recently signed an agreement with the U.S. government to build two artificial intelligence-powered supercomputers to advance research and development in the U.S. Adeia was established as a spin-off of Xperi, which became an independent company in 2022, and its former company Tessera is known for being a pioneer in technologies related to semiconductor production, including hybrid bonding and advanced processing techniques.
The lawsuit seeks to halt AMD's use of Adeia’s patented technology and requests an unspecified amount of monetary damages.
