


In the European Union (EU) market, new car sales reached 888,672 units in September, marking a 10% increase year-on-year.
The European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) has released the new car registration data for September. According to these figures, new car sales in EU countries increased by 10% compared to the same period in 2024.
In September, 34.7% of the new cars sold in member countries were hybrid, 24.9% were gasoline, 18.9% were electric, 10.3% were plug-in hybrids, 8.1% were diesel, and 3.2% were from other fuel types.
Electric car sales increased by 20% year-on-year in September, reaching 167,586 units. Battery electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid models accounted for 63.9% of total sales.
In September, new car sales increased by 12.8% in Germany, 1% in France, 4.2% in Italy, and 16.4% in Spain compared to the same period last year.
In September, the Volkswagen Group led the EU with 241,368 new car sales. The Stellantis Group (including the Peugeot, Fiat, Citroen, and Opel brands) secured second place with 133,305 sales. The Renault Group came in third with 100,817 new cars.
